2507 Duplex Stainless Steel is a ferritic-austenitic (duplex) stainless steel that combines the beneficial properties of both ferritic and austenitic steels. With its high chromium and molybdenum content, it offers outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and general corrosion. The duplex microstructure ensures superior stress corrosion cracking resistance and high mechanical strength, making it ideal for use in harsh environments, such as chemical processing, marine applications, and other industries requiring excellent corrosion resistance and strength.

• Main features and advantages of 2507

 2507 Duplex Stainless Steel Corrosion Resistance

1. Corrosion Resistance
    2507 has high chromium and molybdenum content, providing excellent resistance to organic acids (like formic and acetic acids) and inorganic acids, especially those with chlorides. It performs better than 904L against diluted sulfuric acid with chloride ions. Unlike 316L, which is unsuitable for hydrochloric acid environments,  2507 resists pitting and crevice corrosion in diluted hydrochloric acid.

2. Intergranular Corrosion
   With low carbon content,  2507 reduces the risk of carbide precipitation during heat treatment, offering strong resistance to intergranular corrosion.

3. Stress Corrosion Cracking
   The duplex structure of  2507 enhances resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Its high alloy content gives it superior corrosion resistance and strength compared to 2205. 2507 is highly resistant to crack corrosion in chloride environments, with a corrosion rate of 0.1 mm/year in sulfuric and hydrochloric acids.

 

Mechanical Properties

• Tensile Strength: σb ≥ 730 MPa

• Elongation: δ ≥ 20%
   2507 offers high strength, impact resistance, low thermal expansion, and good thermal conductivity, making it ideal for structural and mechanical parts. However, it should not be exposed to temperatures over 570°F for long periods, as it may reduce toughness.

 2507 is a strong, corrosion-resistant material, ideal for demanding applications like chemical processing, marine systems, and high-corrosion environments.
