Heat Treatment of SKH52 High Speed Tool Steel

Process	Temperature (°C)	Procedure / Notes
Forging	982-1093°C	Heat thoroughly, start forging, then cool slowly in the furnace.
Annealing	871°C	Soak thoroughly, then cool slowly in the furnace.
Stress Relieving	600-650°C	Hold ~2 hours, then cool slowly in the furnace.
Tempering	515-593°C (3 times)	Typical hardness: 67 HRC (515°C), 69 HRC (550°C), 63 HRC (600°C).
Hardening	1160-1180°C (salt) / 1180-1190°C (atmosphere or vacuum)	Heat to the required temp, then quench.
Quenching	538°C	Quench, then cool in air.
