Annealing: Heat to 850-900°C, hold for sufficient time, then cool slowly in the furnace to approximately 500°C, followed by air cooling.
Hardening: Preheat in two steps at 600-850°C, then heat rapidly to 1210-1230°C. Hold at the hardening temperature until fully heated through. Quench in oil or salt bath at 540-595°C or air cool.
Tempering: Temper immediately after hardening. Recommended tempering temperature is 550°C. Temper twice or thrice to achieve optimum hardness and toughness. Final hardness after tempering: 63-65 HRC
