Product Description
T6 High Speed Tool Steel Rods/ASTM A600 Standard
ASTM T6 High Speed Tool Steel is a tungsten-type high-speed steel defined under the ASTM A600 specification. Compared to T5 tool steel, T6 contains higher amounts of cobalt and tungsten, providing superior hardness and wear resistance at elevated temperatures. This makes ASTM T6 ideal for manufacturing cutting tools that demand excellent heat resistance and durability.
As a leading supplier of AISI T6 tool steel, we are committed to delivering high-quality ASTM T6 HSS products tailored to your precise requirements, ensuring consistent performance and reliability for your high-speed machining applications.

ASTM T6 High Speed Steel Heat Treatment
Preheating and Quenching
Preheat T6 tool steel to 815°C, then rapidly heat to 1273-1287°C and hold at this temperature for 2 to 5 minutes. After soaking, quench in air, salt bath, or oil to achieve proper hardening.
Annealing
Anneal the steel at 885°C, then slowly cool it in the furnace at a rate of less than 4°C per hour. This process softens the material and relieves internal stresses, improving machinability.
Tempering
Temper the T6 steel at temperatures between 537°C and 593°C, targeting a Rockwell hardness of HRC 65 to 60. Proper tempering ensures an optimal balance between hardness and toughness for high-speed cutting applications.
